Spanish IA is the first year of Spanish, and can be taken in either 7th or 8th grade. Spanish IA emphasizes conversational Spanish and cultures. It focuses on basic communication in speaking, listening, reading and writing in the modern language. Spanish IB will extend the skills learned in Spanish IA. A student must complete Spanish IA before signing up for Spanish IB.
A little about me, I started learning Spanish when I entered high school. I took the required two years of a modern language and loved it so much I took another two years of the language. I continued to take Spanish at Northern Arizona University, and in 2010 I studied abroad to Cuernavaca, Mexico. While in Cuernavaca, I lived with a Mexican family and attended the International University. After spending a semester there, I returned to NAU and continued taking Spanish classes as well as attending conversation groups and Spanish activities outside of the classroom. I received my degree in Spanish Secondary Education in December 2012 from Northern Arizona University.
